Flooring and the environment
The majority of slips and trips are caused by obstructions in the walkways, or uneven flooring. A safe floor has no unexpected changes in level and no damage to surfaces. Checks should be made to ensure that carpets are securely fixed down.
Have you thought about other factors like good lighting, distractions such as loud or unfamiliar noises and the effect of the weather, e.g. ice, condensation, or rain?

Housekeeping
Can you improve your housekeeping to reduce accidents? Keep walkways clear and rooms tidy with suitable storage and waste bins.
Contaminations and cleaning
Most floors only become slippery once they are wet or greasy. Can you reduce or prevent this? Cleaning can create risks from slippery floors and trailing wires.
Do you have a “wet floor” sign that can be used to warn people of slippery surfaces?
People
Do you and your colleagues have a ‘see it, sort it out’ approach? A positive attitude, rather than waiting for someone else to sort it out, can reduce the risk of accidents.
